I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords
I am currently as an intern at Lawrence Livermore National Labratory in the Computation division. I have a passion for robotic and automated systems. As a child I grew up reading and re-reading the Robots and Empire series by Isacc Asimov, but never imagined that roboticist would be something I could actually persue in the real world. Fast forward a couple decades, and now the hardware to build even the most complex robotic systems is trivially inexpensive. With a little experiance, and more then a little googling, its possible to build anything you can dream up. We are only held back by our own imagination and motivation!
Until taking the position at LLNL Sterling was also the lead programmer on the Chico State Intellegent Ground Vehicle, which is the CSU Chico's entry in the Intellegent Ground Vehicle Competition. In the competition, each entry must autonomously navigate an obstacle course, going from GPS waypoint to waypoint while not crossing any of the white paited lines on the field, or striking any of the traffic cones.
